    Beer and Jobs
So it's been a few days (weeks) since I put anything up, so here goes.

Had some friendly chats with the Underground about the possibility of an initial short term contract. This led to an intensive interview, asking me lots of difficult questions, that I should have read up on. I have the memory joggers for the real thing though! Thanks Liz.

In between discussions on that I had a small Beer Festival to work at. Some are probably bored of this already, but there you go. I think I have more or less recovered, and seem to be planning on doing it again next year. I must be mad!

M starts her new job tomorrow, so she is nervous, but in a good way I think. I have more interviews with people in the rail industry, and then it is the Reading Festival. And Duncan is coming to visit that weekend too!

I think I may be a little tired by then.

Anyhow, that's all in my little world. See you all in the big wide one!

Oh, and it is the Reading Beer Festival Wash up today. Only about 4 months after it started setting up! Almost time to start planning the next one!

    Jobs
Right, well now I have sorted my CV I have to send it off. First copy off this morning. See what happens.

Now need to a) find lots more email addresses, and b) get sorted with the DWP. I paid my NI, so I want my benefits! :-)

Anyhow, need to go and get a train.

    Drinkies?
Just another silly thing. Me? Martini's? Never.

    You Are A Martini

You are the kind of drinker who appreciates a nice hard drink.
And for you, only quality alcohol. You don't waste your time on the cheap stuff.
Obviously, you're usually found with a martini in your hand. But sometimes you mix it up with a gin and tonic.
And you'd never, ever consider one of those flavored martinis. They're hardly a drink!

    Pirate Names
In preperation for INternational Talk like a Pirate Day (I can't be arsed to link, google it!), here is my Pirate Name. Have Fun!

    My pirate name is:

    Black Sam Flint

Like anyone confronted with the harshness of robbery on the high seas, you can be pessimistic at times. Like the rock flint, you're hard and sharp. But, also like flint, you're easily chipped, and sparky. Arr!

    Curry Houses in Reading
Anybody know of any good curry houses in Reading, that are near the Madjeski? Got to go to a funeral on Friday next week, and have friends coming to visit. They were wondering if they can get curry and beer nearby, without having to come all the way back into town.

    Any ideas gratefully received.

Oh, they are both on the train, so will have bags with them, which is why they are looking out there. Need to check into the hotel, and get rid of bags before going on the lash.

Radio 4 in the early morning
What are they broadcasting? Seriously, I am intrigued. I know it is World Service, but it sounds like World Service Kids (or what ever clever branding you want to call it.).

I sometimes can't sleep in the middle of the night, I'll get 2 - 3 hours, and then wake up. I think to put the radio on, to help me back to sleep / stop the mind wandering, and then there is this kids show. Last week they were singing songs about going to the beach, over and over again. It was disturbing, in the same way the Child in Doc Who who wanted his mummy was.

I do eventually get back to sleep, but sometimes have to get up for an hour. Normally to try and find out on the web what it is. Eventually I get back to sleep, for the alarm from down stairs to wake me (LJ's passim). So if I look tired in the morning that may be why. Not really got any other reason to keep me awake! ;-)

Of course none of you see me in the morning, so it is a bit academic.

Anyhow if anybody can shed light on the matter it would be appreciated.

    Ta muchly.

    Lifted from Pumpkin_pixie
Go to wikipedia, enter your birthday (not the year - doh!), and list 3 neat facts, 2 births and 2 deaths.

    29th September:

1829 - London's reorganized police force, the Metropolitan Police, becomes the first official police department in the world.

1954 - The convention establishing CERN (European Organization for Nuclear Research) is signed. (It is where Tim Berners-Lee worked, so we couldn't be doing this - that's neat to me!)

2004 - The Burt Rutan Ansari X Prize entry SpaceShipOne performed a successful spaceflight, thereby halfway to winning the prize. (Who needs NASA!)

    Births:
2 BC - Jesus of Nazareth born in Bethlehem of Judea. (Luke 2:1-7)
1901 - Enrico Fermi, Italian physicist, Nobel Prize laureate (d. 1954) (Designed and built CP1)

    Deaths:
1560 - King Gustav I of Sweden (b. 1496) (Always check the spelling of those pesky Scandinavians!)
    1973 - W. H. Auden, English poet (b. 1907)

A lot more people were born than died (and obviously are listed in Wikipedia) on my birthday. Several other notables were born, but it only says 2. And if anyone is that interested then you can always do the search yourself! :-)

    Public Transport
Well as of 5 minutes ago I am no longer a company car driver, and am without a car for the first time in about 10 years! This is going to be an interesting time. It should be fine when I am living in Reading, but Bracknell is not geared to people with out a car.

Not sure how I feel, a little sad I guess. I had some fun! Anyhow, at least I can't get done for Drink driving! (Oh and my tax bill goes done rapidly!)

Cycles will be the way forward in the future, but not yet. NEed to get some cash first for repairs improvements!

So what now? Well a Season ticket on Monday, or maybe tomorrow (or tonight), and I am sure as hell going to the pub!

    Rome things
So I am now at the airport in Rome, waiting for the flight. I have not had much sleep after spending most evenings with a colleague, and she went home at midnight last night. Friend I think, not sure about anything else.

Rome has a general strike on today, so it was a bit hit or miss as to whether I was going to get my flight, but got to the airport OK. Flight is full, so I was asked if I minded going Business. Obviously not,if that is where they want to put me.

Many more details later. Off to get a big shiny metal tube to Heathrow! Called an MD 80, not the Piccadilly Line!!! :-)

[Edited for typos Monday morning - the keyboard at the airport was crap!]

    Foxtrotting House Buying
Now we all need houses, and so people buy them, and people sell them. But I am starting to loathe Estate Agents. It is not a job I personally would do. The constant chasing of me is a case in point. It is like this:

I know I have got to contact the bank, which I have. I hate talking to banks. I get nervous and uptight before hand. My blood pressure goes up and all that.

Bank don't call me as promised, but may have just sent the paperwork off straight away. To Derby. I don't know until tomorrow. Or it has all gone tits up.
I have nothing to say to estate agent, apart from he will threatenn me. This is normal behaviour.

I do not like being pushed around. It winds me up, and makes my blood pressure even higher.

I have a bloody day job to do.

I am on tablets for high blood pressure. I do not need this constant shit.
Also the people I am buying the flat off bought it as a buy to let, so they have made hay, and are now nervous as they are servicing the debt themselves.

So what does this rant mean? it means I am stressed. It means I want a beer. It means I will lamp any Estate Agents, who tell me what a good service they offer. And DJ Will was right wehen he said this firm were a pain. On another note, can anyone tell what species estate agents are?

In the final bloody analysis, I didn't choose to move. The company chose for me, by offering me relocation or redundancy. And anybody who says Redundancy in Derby is an option I will also bloody lamp.

Oh, and did I mention I have a heart condidtion, and will need Valve Surgery at some point. A lot bloody sooner at this rate. Trying ringing me in the Cardiac Ward Mr Estate Agent. Or the Morgue!

I have about 3 and a bit hours of ignoring the phone and then I am off to the pub. I may well see some of you there. Rant over.

    That is all.
